As used in this act:
(a) “Employ” means engage, permit, or allow to work.
Terms Used In Michigan Laws 409.102
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Employer: means a person, firm, or corporation that employs a minor, and includes the state or a political subdivision of the state, an agency or instrumentality of the state, and an agent of an employer. See Michigan Laws 409.102
- in writing: shall be construed to include printing, engraving, and lithographing; except that if the written signature of a person is required by law, the signature shall be the proper handwriting of the person or, if the person is unable to write, the person's proper mark, which may be, unless otherwise expressly prohibited by law, a clear and classifiable fingerprint of the person made with ink or another substance. - Minor: means a person under 18 years of age. See Michigan Laws 409.102
- person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
- Rule: means a rule promulgated pursuant to the administrative procedures act of 1969, Act No. See Michigan Laws 409.102
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
(b) “Employer” means a person, firm, or corporation that employs a minor, and includes the state or a political subdivision of the state, an agency or instrumentality of the state, and an agent of an employer.
(c) “Issuing officer” means the chief administrator of a school district, intermediate school district, public school academy, or nonpublic school, or a person authorized by that chief administrator in writing to act on his or her behalf.
(d) “Minor” means a person under 18 years of age.
(e) “Rule” means a rule promulgated pursuant to the administrative procedures act of 1969, Act No. 306 of the Public Acts of 1969, being section 24.201 to 24.328 of the Michigan Compiled Laws.
