Terms Used In Michigan Laws 409.117
- Employer: means a person, firm, or corporation that employs a minor, and includes the state or a political subdivision of the state, an agency or instrumentality of the state, and an agent of an employer. See Michigan Laws 409.102
- Minor: means a person under 18 years of age. See Michigan Laws 409.102
- shall not apply: means that the pertinent provision is not operative as to certain persons or things or in conjunction with a particular date or dates. See Michigan Laws 8.4c
This act shall not apply to nor prohibit the employment of an emancipated minor, as defined by section 4 of Act No. 293 of the Public Acts of 1968, as amended, being section 722.4 of the Michigan Compiled Laws. An employer, before employing the minor, shall obtain and keep on file proof of the minor’s emancipated status.
