As used in this act:
(a) “Department” means the state department of labor.

- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Department: means the state department of labor. See Michigan Laws 423.321
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- State: means this state or an agency, department, division, bureau, board, commission, council, authority, or other body of this state. See Michigan Laws 423.321
(b) “Employer” means an individual, partnership, corporation, or other association, or a city, village, township, or county that employs 2 or more persons.
(c) “State” means this state or an agency, department, division, bureau, board, commission, council, authority, or other body of this state.
