Terms Used In Michigan Laws 600.8723
- Citation: means a written complaint or notice to appear in court upon which an authorized local official records the occurrence or existence of 1 or more municipal civil infractions by the person cited. See Michigan Laws 600.8701
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
- judgment: as used in this act , includes decree. See Michigan Laws 600.112
If the defendant fails to appear as directed by the citation or other notice at a scheduled appearance under section 8715(3)(b) or (4), at a scheduled informal hearing, or at a scheduled formal hearing, the court shall enter a default judgment against the defendant.
