- Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
- Highly restricted personal information: means an individual's photograph or image, Social Security number, digitized signature, and medical and disability information. See Michigan Laws 324.80104
- Litigation: A case, controversy, or lawsuit. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants.
- Operator: means the person who is in control or in charge of a vessel while that vessel is underway. See Michigan Laws 324.80103

- Personal information: means information that identifies an individual, including an individual's driver license number, name, address not including zip code, and telephone number, but does not include information on watercraft operation and equipment-related violations or civil infractions, operator or vehicle registration status, accidents, or other behaviorally related information. - Probate: Proving a will
- Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
- Use: means operate, navigate, or employ. See Michigan Laws 324.80104
