Terms Used In Michigan Laws > Chapter 37 > Act 241 of 2023 - Meaningful Language Access to State Services Act
- Covered entity: means a state department, agency, or entity. See Michigan Laws 37.21
- Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.
- Meaningful language access: means the ability to receive information and to participate in and benefit from public services offered by a covered entity. See Michigan Laws 37.21
- Oral language services: includes various methods to provide verbal information and interpretation, such as staff interpreters, bilingual staff, telephone interpreter programs, televideo interpretation services, and private interpreter programs. See Michigan Laws 37.21
- Probate: Proving a will
- shall: is a lways mandatory and not directory, and denotes that the dwelling shall be maintained in all respects according to the mandate as long as it continues to be a dwelling. See Michigan Laws 125.402
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
- Vital documents: means printed or electronic documents that provide important information necessary to access or participate in services, programs, and activities of a covered entity, including, but not limited to, applications, outreach materials, and written notices of rights, denials, losses, or decreases in benefits or services.
