Terms Used In Missouri Laws 375.940
- Director: the director of the department of commerce and insurance. See Missouri Laws 375.001
- Insurer: all insurance companies, reciprocals, or interinsurance exchanges transacting the business of insurance in this state. See Missouri Laws 375.001
- person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, and to partnerships and other unincorporated associations. See Missouri Laws 1.020

Whenever the director shall have reason to believe that any person or insurer has been engaged or is engaging in this state in any unfair method of competition or any unfair or deceptive act or practice in violation of sections 375.930 to 375.948, and that a proceeding by the director in respect thereto would be to the interest of the public, the director shall issue and serve upon such person or insurer a statement of the charges under the procedures set forth in section 374.046.
