- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
No ordinance enacted under sections 92.110 to 92.200, except an ordinance limited to the purposes of section 92.170, shall be effective unless it is authorized pursuant to a charter amendment of such city; provided that any ordinance authorized by charter and presently in effect shall remain in effect until an ordinance is adopted under the authority of sections 92.110 to 92.200.
