50-76-110. Crane inspector — qualifications — inspections. (1) The department shall employ at least one crane inspector. A crane inspector must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed third-class crane and hoist engineer.

Terms Used In Montana Code 50-76-110

  • Crane: means a machine with a hoisting mechanism that is integral to the machine and that is used for lifting and lowering a load and for moving it horizontally. See Montana Code 50-76-111
  • Department: means the department of labor and industry provided for in 2-15-1701. See Montana Code 50-76-111
  • Hoist: means a power-driven apparatus capable of lifting and lowering loads and not designed to facilitate horizontal movements. See Montana Code 50-76-111

(2)The department may adopt by rule applicable operating and safety standards established by the American national standards institute.

(3)A crane inspector may require that a crane, hoist, or other equipment subject to this chapter that is not being operated in compliance with an operating or safety standard adopted by rule pursuant to subsection (2) be declared to be out of service and that the crane, hoist, or other equipment not be operated until the noncompliance is cured.
