- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Federal assistance programs: means any financial assistance made to a state agency by an agency of the United States government, whether a grant, loan, gift, contract, or in any other form. See Montana Code 17-3-102
- Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
- Grantee agency: means any agency of state government receiving federal funds. See Montana Code 17-3-102
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Montana Code 1-1-201
- State agency: means any agency of state government eligible to apply for and receive federal funds. See Montana Code 17-3-102
- United States: includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Montana Code 1-1-201
