Low-speed vehicle means a (1) four-wheeled motor vehicle (a) whose speed attainable in one mile is more than twenty miles per hour and not more than twenty-five miles per hour on a paved, level surface, (b) whose gross vehicle weight rating is less than three thousand pounds, and (c) that complies with 49 C.F.R. part 571, as such part existed on January 1, 2024, or (2) three-wheeled motor vehicle (a) whose maximum speed attainable is not more than twenty-five miles per hour on a paved, level surface, (b) whose gross vehicle weight rating is less than three thousand pounds, and (c) which is equipped with a windshield and an occupant protection system. A motorcycle with a sidecar attached is not a low-speed vehicle.

Terms Used In Nebraska Statutes 60-336.01

  • Gross vehicle weight: means the sum of the empty weights of a truck or truck-tractor and the empty weights of any trailer, semitrailer, or combination thereof with which the truck or truck-tractor is to be operated in combination at any one time, plus the weight of the maximum load to be carried thereon at any one time. See Nebraska Statutes 60-330
  • Gross vehicle weight rating: means the value specified by the manufacturer as the loaded weight of a single motor vehicle or trailer. See Nebraska Statutes 60-331
  • Low-speed vehicle: means a (1) four-wheeled motor vehicle (a) whose speed attainable in one mile is more than twenty miles per hour and not more than twenty-five miles per hour on a paved, level surface, (b) whose gross vehicle weight rating is less than three thousand pounds, and (c) that complies with Nebraska Statutes 60-336.01
  • Motor vehicle: means any vehicle propelled by any power other than muscular power. See Nebraska Statutes 60-339
  • Motorcycle: means any motor vehicle having a seat or saddle for use of the operator and designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground. See Nebraska Statutes 60-340
