Upon application to register any motor vehicle or trailer, no registration fee shall be required to be paid thereon for any previous registration period during which such motor vehicle or trailer was not at any time driven or used upon any highway within this state, and the person desiring to register such motor vehicle or trailer without payment of fees for previous registration periods shall file with the county treasurer an affidavit showing where, when, and for how long such motor vehicle or trailer was stored and that the same was not used in this state during such registration period or periods, and upon receipt thereof the county treasurer shall issue a registration certificate.

Terms Used In Nebraska Statutes 60-3,159

  • Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
  • Highway: means the entire width between the boundary limits of any street, road, avenue, boulevard, or way which is publicly maintained when any part thereof is open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel. See Nebraska Statutes 60-332
  • Motor vehicle: means any vehicle propelled by any power other than muscular power. See Nebraska Statutes 60-339
  • Person: shall include bodies politic and corporate, societies, communities, the public generally, individuals, partnerships, limited liability companies, joint-stock companies, and associations. See Nebraska Statutes 49-801
  • Registration period: means the period from the date of registration pursuant to section Nebraska Statutes 60-3,184
  • State: when applied to different states of the United States shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories organized by Congress. See Nebraska Statutes 49-801
  • Trailer: means any device without motive power designed for carrying persons or property and being towed by a motor vehicle and so constructed that no part of its weight rests upon the towing vehicle. See Nebraska Statutes 60-354
