Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 195:13

  • Cooperative school district: means a district composed of 2 or more school districts of the state associated together under the provisions of this chapter and may include either the elementary schools, the secondary schools, or both. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 195:1
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • following: when used by way of reference to any section of these laws, shall mean the section next preceding or following that in which such reference is made, unless some other is expressly designated. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:13
  • petition: when used in connection with the equity jurisdiction of the superior court, and referring to a document filed with the court, shall mean complaint, and "petitioner" shall mean plaintiff. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:51
  • Pre-existing district: shall mean a district or portion of a district which is included within the boundaries of a proposed or established cooperative school district. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 195:1
A meeting of every cooperative school district shall be held annually between the dates set forth in N.H. Rev. Stat. § 197:1 for the choice of district officers, raising and appropriating money for the support of its schools for the fiscal year beginning the next July, and for the transaction of other district business. Special meetings may be called by majority vote of the school board. A special meeting shall be held within 30 days following the receipt by the school board of a petition calling for such a meeting and setting forth the subject matter upon which action is desired signed by at least 5 percent of the voters who are duly registered on the checklists of the district on the date the petition is submitted. The provisions of RSA 197, excepting the provisions of N.H. Rev. Stat. § 197:2, shall apply to cooperative school district meetings, except that a copy of the warrant shall be posted in a public place in each pre-existing district as well as at the place of meeting.
