Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 511:39

  • Attachment: A procedure by which a person's property is seized to pay judgments levied by the court.
  • Writ: A formal written command, issued from the court, requiring the performance of a specific act.
If the property is sold or restored to the debtor as provided for in N.H. Rev. Stat. § 511:37 before the return day of the writ, the officer shall make return thereon of his doings relating thereto; and if it is sold or restored after the return day, he shall make return thereof to the court in which the writ is pending on which the first attachment was made; and such return shall be filed with the writ.
