Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 18A:38-6

- Private school: means a school, under college grade, which does not derive its support entirely or in part from public funds. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
- Public school: means a school, under college grade, which derives its support entirely or in part from public funds. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
Pupils who have never attended any public or private school may be admitted to a public school on or before October 1 following the opening of the school for the fall term, and at no other time except by a majority vote of all the members of the board of education of the district in which the school is situated.
