Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 39:3-19.4

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 2 of P.L.1974, c. 162 (C. 39:3-19.2) or of any other law, any vehicle with a seating capacity of 16 or less which is used to transport children to or from summer day camps or summer residence camps from May 15 to September 15 shall be inspected by the Division of Motor Vehicles prior to May 15 of any year in which the vehicle is to be used for those purposes for compliance with the minimum standards for small vehicles which have been adopted by the Department of Education and shall be covered by motor vehicle liability insurance coverage insuring against loss resulting from liability imposed by law for bodily injury or death sustained by any person arising out of the ownership, maintenance, operation or use of said vehicle wherein such coverage shall be at least in: a. an amount or limit of $300,000.00, exclusive of interest and costs, on account of injury to, or death of, one person, in any one accident; and b. an amount or limit, subject to such limit for any one person so injured or killed, of $500,000.00, exclusive of interest and costs, on account of injury to or death of, more than one person, in any one accident.
