- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 1. a. Notwithstanding the provisions of R.S.41:2-1, concerning persons authorized to administer oaths and affirmations, the chairperson of an authority, board or commission of a municipality may administer an oath of office to any person appointed to that authority, board or commission.
b. In addition to the oath of office required by R.S.41:1-3, and in addition to any other oath that may be specially prescribed, every new appointee to an authority, board or commission shall be sworn in by the chairperson of their respective authority, board or commission, or by another person authorized by law to administer oaths.
