§ 47-b. Filing, entering and indexing. 1. The filing officer shall mark upon the assignment or true copy thereof filed with him the date of its filing and shall file such assignment or true copy thereof in his office for public inspection. He shall keep a separate book in which he shall enter the names of the assignor and assignee, the date of its filing, its filing number and the date of cancellation thereof, or of its vacation by order of the court. Such book shall be indexed alphabetically under the names and changed names, if any, of both assignor and assignee.
2. A county clerk may adopt a new indexing system utilizing electro-mechanical, electronic or any other method he deems suitable for maintaining the indexes.
