Notwithstanding section 124.41 of the Revised Code, the appointing authority of a municipal corporation that has been incorporated pursuant to Chapter 707, of the Revised Code may grant an original appointment to a police department, as a policewoman or policeman, to a person who was employed on the date of incorporation as a full-time police officer of a township all or part of which was included in the corporation limits of the municipal corporation.

- Appointing authority: means the officer, commission, board, or body having the power of appointment to, or removal from, positions in any office, department, commission, board, or institution. See Ohio Code 124.01
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Person: includes an individual, corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, and association. See Ohio Code 1.59
