Ohio Code 128.221 – Use and protection of 9-1-1 data
(A) The data described in section 128.22 of the Revised Code shall be protected in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code. Charges, terms, and conditions for the disclosure or use of that data provided by public safety answering points, service providers, and emergency service providers for the purpose of 9-1-1 shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the steering committee.
Terms Used In Ohio Code 128.221
- Emergency service: means emergency law enforcement, firefighting, ambulance, rescue, and medical service. See Ohio Code 128.01
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Steering committee: means the statewide 9-1-1 steering committee established by division (A)(1) of section 128. See Ohio Code 128.01
(B) Data and information that contribute to more effective 9-1-1 services and emergency response may be accessed and shared among 9-1-1 and emergency response functions specifically for the purposes of effective emergency response, while ensuring the overall privacy and confidentiality of the data and information involved.
