In determining the purpose or purposes for which any land or tract of land should be devoted after reclamation and in preparing a plan of reclamation, the chief of the division of mineral resources management may call to the chief’s assistance, temporarily, any engineers or other employees in any state department or in the Ohio state university, or other educational institutions financed wholly or in part by the state, for the purpose of making studies, surveys, and maps and for the purpose of devising the most effective and economical plan of reclamation.

Terms Used In Ohio Code 1513.23

  • Reclamation: means backfilling, grading, resoiling, planting, and other work that has the effect of restoring an area of land affected by coal mining so that it may be used for forest growth, grazing, agricultural, recreational, and wildlife purpose, or some other useful purpose of equal or greater value than existed prior to any mining. See Ohio Code 1513.01
  • state: means the state of Ohio. See Ohio Code 1.59

Such engineers and employees shall not receive any additional compensation other than that which they receive from the department by which they are employed, but they shall be reimbursed for their actual and necessary expenses incurred while working under the direction of the chief.
