(A)(1) If a nonresident person licensed as a nonresident insurance agent under section 3905.07 of the Revised Code changes the person’s address within the person’s state of residence, the person shall, within thirty days after making that change, file a change of address with the superintendent of insurance or the superintendent’s designee.

Terms Used In Ohio Code 3905.071

  • agent: means any person that, in order to sell, solicit, or negotiate insurance, is required to be licensed under the laws of this state, including limited lines insurance agents and surplus line brokers. See Ohio Code 3905.01
  • Home state: means the state or territory of the United States, including the District of Columbia, in which an insurance agent maintains the insurance agent's principal place of residence or principal place of business and is licensed to act as an insurance agent. See Ohio Code 3905.01
  • Insurance: means any of the lines of authority set forth in Chapter 1739. See Ohio Code 3905.01
  • License: means the authority issued by the superintendent to a person to act as an insurance agent for the lines of authority specified, but that does not create any actual, apparent, or inherent authority in the person to represent or commit an insurer. See Ohio Code 3905.01
  • Person: means an individual or a business entity. See Ohio Code 3905.01
  • state: means the state of Ohio. See Ohio Code 1.59

(2) If a nonresident person licensed as a nonresident insurance agent under section 3905.07 of the Revised Code changes the person’s home state, the person shall, within thirty days after making that change, file a change of address with the superintendent and provide the superintendent with certification from the new home state.

(B) If a nonresident insurance agent complies with division (A) of this section and the agent is in good standing with the superintendent, no fee or license application shall be required. A change in the residency status of an agent’s license under this section does not change the license renewal date established by the initial license under section 3905.07 of the Revised Code.
