(A) No class A, B, or C licensee, or registered employee of a class A, B, or C licensee shall be considered, because of licensure or registration under this chapter, a law enforcement officer for any purpose. Nothing in this chapter shall be construed as granting the right to carry a concealed weapon.
Terms Used In Ohio Code 4749.08
- Employee: means every person who may be required or directed by any employer, in consideration of direct or indirect gain or profit, to engage in any employment, or to go, or work, or be at any time in any place of employment, provided that the employer of the employee deducts all applicable state and federal employment taxes on behalf of the employee. See Ohio Code 4749.01
- Private investigator: means any person who engages in the business of private investigation. See Ohio Code 4749.01
- Security guard provider: means any person who engages in the business of security services. See Ohio Code 4749.01
- state: means the state of Ohio. See Ohio Code 1.59
(B) The rules of the department of public safety adopted for the administration of this chapter shall include provisions to assure that any uniform or identification card shall be so designed as to avoid confusion of a private investigator, security guard provider, or registered employee with any law enforcement officer in this state.
