(A)(1) Except as provided in division (B) of this section, no person shall practice as a genetic counselor unless the person holds a current, valid license to practice as a genetic counselor issued under this chapter.

Terms Used In Ohio Code 4778.02

  • Another: when used to designate the owner of property which is the subject of an offense, includes not only natural persons but also every other owner of property. See Ohio Code 1.02
  • Genetic counselor: means an individual who engages in any of the activities authorized under section 4778. See Ohio Code 4778.01
  • Person: includes an individual, corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, and association. See Ohio Code 1.59

(2) No person shall use the title “genetic counselor,” or otherwise hold the person out as a genetic counselor, unless the person holds a current, valid license to practice as a genetic counselor issued under this chapter.

(B) Division (A)(1) of this section does not apply to either of the following:

(1) A student performing an activity as part of a genetic counseling graduate program described in division (B)(2) of section 4778.03 of the Revised Code;

(2) A person who is authorized pursuant to another provision of the Revised Code to perform any of the activities that a genetic counselor is authorized to perform.
