  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • state: means the state of Ohio. See Ohio Code 1.59
  • United States: includes all the states. See Ohio Code 1.59

“I do hereby acknowledge to have voluntarily enlisted this ________ day of ________________________, _________, as a member of the Ohio military reserve for a period of three years, under the conditions prescribed by law, unless sooner discharged by proper authority. And I do solemnly swear that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the United States of America and to the state of Ohio; that I will serve them honestly and faithfully against all their enemies whomsoever; and that I will obey the orders of the governor of the state of Ohio and of the officers appointed over me according to law and the rules and regulations in accordance therewith.”
