Possession by any person of any horse carcass, dressed horse meat, or any horse meat food product constitutes prima-facie evidence that such commodity is for sale; provided, that this section does not apply to any person who has purchased dressed horse meat or horse meat food products for his personal consumption.

Terms Used In Ohio Code 919.16

  • Carcass: means the dressed body of a horse. See Ohio Code 919.01
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Horse: means an animal of the equine family. See Ohio Code 919.01
  • Horse meat: means the meat of a horse. See Ohio Code 919.01
  • Horse meat food product: means any article intended for human food that is derived in whole or in part from horse meat. See Ohio Code 919.01
  • Person: includes an individual, corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, and association. See Ohio Code 1.59
