No person other than a purchaser at retail for his or her own use, or except as otherwise provided in this chapter, shall remove, deface, alter, or cause to be removed, defaced, or altered any tag attached to an article of bedding; but immediately after material used for filling has been removed from its container, the tag and inspection stamp thereon shall be removed and destroyed by the person removing the material.

- article of bedding: includes upholstered furniture and filling material or its container (as herein defined) and any mattress, pillow, cushion, quilt, bedpad, comforter, upholstered spring bed, box spring, davenport or day bed, bed spring, metal couch, metal folding bed, metal cot, metal cradle, metal bassinet, and any glider, hammock, or other substantially similar article which is wholly or partly upholstered, when used or intended for use for sleeping or reclining purposes.
