Any city or town may acquire by gift or purchase any lands or interests therein in any other city or town which are necessary for the construction and/or maintenance of the project and may appropriate such sum or sums as may be necessary therefor.

- Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
- town: may be construed to include city; the words "town council" include city council; the words "town clerk" include city clerk; the words "ward clerk" include clerk of election district; the words "town treasurer" include city treasurer; and the words "town sergeant" include city sergeant.
