Terms Used In South Carolina Code 1-7-70

  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
Any and all information obtained by virtue of the provisions of §§ 1-7-50 and 1-7-60 shall be considered confidential and shall not be admissible as evidence in any such action or special proceeding, and no reference thereto shall be made in any such trial or hearing.
