Terms Used In South Carolina Code 35-11-720
- Commissioner: means the South Carolina Attorney General. See South Carolina Code 35-11-105
- Person: means an individual, corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, limited-liability company, association, joint venture, government, governmental subdivision, agency or instrumentality, public corporation, or another legal or commercial entity. - State: means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, or a territory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. See South Carolina Code 35-11-105
The commissioner may assess a civil penalty against a person that violates this chapter or a rule adopted or an order issued pursuant to this chapter in an amount not to exceed one thousand dollars per day for each day the violation is outstanding, plus this state‘s costs and expenses for the investigation and prosecution of the matter, including reasonable attorney fees.
