- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
An interested person may petition the administrator requesting the promulgation, amendment, or repeal of a rule. The administrator shall prescribe by rule the form for petitions and the procedure for their submission, consideration, and disposition. Within thirty days after submission of a petition, the administrator either shall deny the petition in writing, stating his reasons for the denials, or shall initiate rule-making proceedings in accordance with the provisions on procedure for adoption of rules (§ 37-6-404).
