Terms Used In Tennessee Code 41-10-101
- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Board: means the board of parole. See Tennessee Code 41-10-101
- Chair: means the chair of the board of parole. See Tennessee Code 41-10-101
- Commissioner: means the commissioner of correction. See Tennessee Code 41-10-101
- Department: means the department of correction. See Tennessee Code 41-10-101
- Institution: means an institution of the department. See Tennessee Code 41-10-101
- Person: includes a corporation, firm, company or association. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
- Region: means a probation region of the department of correction. See Tennessee Code 41-10-101
- TCRB: means the Tennessee community resource board. See Tennessee Code 41-10-101
- Volunteer: means any person who, after fulfilling appropriate policy requirements, is assigned to a volunteer job and provides a service without pay from the department or board except for compensation for those expenses incurred directly as the result of volunteer services as defined in this chapter.
