As used in this act:
    (a) “Article” means any clothing, garment, wearing apparel, leather garment, fur coat or garment, curtain, drapery, rug, carpet, or household furnishing.

Terms Used In Michigan Laws 445.1751

  • Article: means any clothing, garment, wearing apparel, leather garment, fur coat or garment, curtain, drapery, rug, carpet, or household furnishing. See Michigan Laws 445.1751
  • Business: means an individual, partnership, corporation, or other legal entity which, for compensation, provides cleaning or repair services. See Michigan Laws 445.1751
  • Cleaning or repair services: means 1 or more of the following services in relation to an article:
    (i) Dry cleaning. See Michigan Laws 445.1751
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
  •     (b) “Business” means an individual, partnership, corporation, or other legal entity which, for compensation, provides cleaning or repair services.
        (c) “Cleaning or repair services” means 1 or more of the following services in relation to an article:
        (i) Dry cleaning.
        (ii) Dyeing.
        (iii) Pressing.
        (iv) Laundering.
        (v) Alterations.
        (vi) Fabric repair.
        (d) “Storage” means the keeping of an article by a business, at the request of the person leaving the article, for a period of time as specified in a receipt or other written document.
