Terms Used In Michigan Laws 500.8154
- Commissioner: means the director. See Michigan Laws 500.102
- Domiciliary state: means the state in which an insurer is incorporated or organized, or, in the case of an alien insurer, its state of entry. See Michigan Laws 500.8103
- Insurer: means an individual, corporation, association, partnership, reciprocal exchange, inter-insurer, Lloyds organization, fraternal benefit society, or other legal entity, engaged or attempting to engage in the business of making insurance or surety contracts. See Michigan Laws 500.106
- State: means a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Michigan Laws 500.8103
The commissioner in his or her sole discretion may institute proceedings under section 8109 to 8111 at the request of the commissioner or other appropriate insurance official of the domiciliary state of any foreign or alien insurer having property located in this state.
