Terms Used In Michigan Laws 722.955
- Adoption attorney: means that term as defined in section 22 of the adoption code, MCL 710. See Michigan Laws 722.952
- Adoption code: means the Michigan adoption code, chapter X of the probate code of 1939, 1939 PA 288, MCL 710. See Michigan Laws 722.952
- Direct placement: means that term as defined in section 22 of the adoption code, MCL 710. See Michigan Laws 722.952
Before providing services in a direct placement adoption as provided under the adoption code, an attorney shall register with the child advocate by filing with the child advocate a verified statement that the attorney is in compliance with all the requirements for an adoption attorney prescribed by section 22 of the adoption code, MCL 710.22. An attorney who wishes to continue providing adoption services shall reregister with the child advocate as provided in this section at least once every 5 years. An adoption attorney may request to be removed from the registry at any time.
