(a) A school district or open-enrollment charter school assigned the lowest rating under § 39.082 shall submit to the commissioner a corrective action plan to address the financial weaknesses of the district or school. A corrective action plan must identify the specific areas of financial weaknesses, such as financial weaknesses in transportation, curriculum, or teacher development, and include strategies for improvement.
(b) The commissioner may impose appropriate sanctions under Chapter 39A against a district or school failing to submit or implement a corrective action plan required under Subsection (a).
