  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

The Title IV-D agency’s authority to issue and enforce a child support review order containing a determination of arrearages is not subject to the time limitation prescribed by § 157.005(b) on the court’s jurisdiction to confirm the amount of and render cumulative money judgments for arrearages.
