(1) A person may not, for the person or for any other person, directly or indirectly, or through any person, before, during, or after any election:

- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Election: means a regular general election, a municipal general election, a statewide special election, a local special election, a regular primary election, a municipal primary election, and a special district election. See Utah Code 20A-1-102
- Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
- Person: means :(24)(a) an individual;(24)(b) an association;(24)(c) an institution;(24)(d) a corporation;(24)(e) a company;(24)(f) a trust;(24)(g) a limited liability company;(24)(h) a partnership;(24)(i) a political subdivision;(24)(j) a government office, department, division, bureau, or other body of government; and(24)(k) any other organization or entity. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5(1)(a) receive, agree to receive, or contract for any money, gift, loan, or other valuable consideration, office, place, or employment for:(1)(a)(i) voting or agreeing to vote;(1)(a)(ii) going or agreeing to go to the polls;(1)(a)(iii) remaining or agreeing to remain away from the polls; or(1)(a)(iv) refraining or agreeing to refrain from voting, or for voting or agreeing to vote, or refraining or agreeing to refrain from voting, for any particular person or measure at any election provided by law; or(1)(b) receive any money or other valuable thing because the person induced any other person to:(1)(b)(i) vote or refrain from voting; or(1)(b)(ii) vote or refrain from voting for any particular person or measure at any election provided by law.
(2) In addition to the penalties established in Subsections 20A-1-609(2) and (3), a person who commits an offense under Subsection (1) is guilty of a third degree felony.
