Terms Used In Utah Code 53-3-909

  • Division: means the Driver License Division of the department created in Section 53-3-103. See Utah Code 53-3-102
  • driver: includes any person who is required to hold a CDL under Part 4, Uniform Commercial Driver License Act, or federal law. See Utah Code 53-3-102
  • Motorcycle: means every motor vehicle, other than a tractor, having a seat or saddle for the use of the rider and designed to travel with not more than three wheels in contact with the ground. See Utah Code 53-3-102
  • Rider training course: means a motorcycle rider education curriculum and delivery system approved by the division as meeting national standards designed to develop and instill the knowledge, attitudes, habits, and skills necessary for the safe operation of a motorcycle. See Utah Code 53-3-902

     An entity offering a motorcycle rider training course approved by the division and an instructor providing instruction as part of an approved motorcycle rider training course are exempt from the requirements of Title 53, Chapter 3, Part 5, Commercial Driver Training Schools Act.
