(1) There is created within the department the Utah Historical Society under the administration and general supervision of the executive director or the designee of the executive director.

- Board: means the Board of State History. See Utah Code 9-8-102
- Department: means the Department of Cultural and Community Engagement. See Utah Code 9-1-102
- Director: means the director of the Utah Historical Society. See Utah Code 9-8-102
- Executive director: means the executive director of the Department of Cultural and Community Engagement. See Utah Code 9-1-102
- Society: means the Utah Historical Society created in Section 9-8-201. See Utah Code 9-8-102
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
(2) The division, with the advisement of the board, shall be the authority of the state for state history and shall perform those duties set forth in statute.
