Any city attaining the status of a first-class city after July 1, 1939, is empowered by this chapter to establish retirement and pension systems for superannuated or totally and permanently disabled officers and employees of cities of the first class.

Terms Used In Washington Code 41.28.005
- City: shall mean any city of the first class as described in RCW 41. See Washington Code 41.28.010
- Pension: shall mean payments derived from contributions made by the city as provided for in RCW 41. See Washington Code 41.28.010
