At least twenty percent of the total amount due for prior service credit must be paid before an application for credit may be presented to the department for approval. The balance is not due until date of retirement and may be paid at that time without additional charge. Any unpaid installments at the time the member is retired for service or disability shall constitute a first, paramount, and prior lien against his or her retirement allowance.

Terms Used In Washington Code 41.32.390

  • Department: means the department of retirement systems created in chapter 41. See Washington Code 41.32.010
  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
  • Member: means any teacher included in the membership of the retirement system who has not been removed from membership under RCW 41. See Washington Code 41.32.010
  • Prior service: means service rendered prior to the first date of eligibility to membership in the retirement system for which credit is allowable. See Washington Code 41.32.010
