(1) A pharmacy may dispense legend drugs to the resident of a long-term care facility or hospice program on the basis of a written or electronically signed prescription or chart order sent via facsimile copy by the prescriber to the long-term care facility or hospice program, and communicated or transmitted to the pharmacy pursuant to RCW 18.64.550.

Terms Used In Washington Code 69.41.041

  • Dispense: means the interpretation of a prescription or order for a legend drug and, pursuant to that prescription or order, the proper selection, measuring, compounding, labeling, or packaging necessary to prepare that prescription or order for delivery. See Washington Code 69.41.010
  • Legend drugs: means any drugs which are required by state law or regulation of the pharmacy quality assurance commission to be dispensed on prescription only or are restricted to use by practitioners only. See Washington Code 69.41.010
(2) For the purpose of this section, the terms “long-term care facility,” “hospice program,” and “chart order” have the meanings provided in RCW 18.64.011.
