As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise indicates, the following words shall have the following meanings. [PL 1977, c. 696, §185 (NEW).]
1. Breathing apparatus. “Breathing apparatus” means any breathing device, either high or low pressure, which is used to sustain human life under adverse conditions.

- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Department: means the Department of Health and Human Services. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 1582
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- Suppliers of compressed air: means any organization, agency, individual, firm, partnership or corporation that provides compressed air to be used in self-contained breathing apparatus. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 1582
- Tester of compressed air: means any organization, agency, individual, firm, partnership or corporation that is recognized by the department as qualified to inspect and test suppliers of compressed air. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 1582
2. Department. “Department” means the Department of Health and Human Services.

3. Suppliers of compressed air. “Suppliers of compressed air” means any organization, agency, individual, firm, partnership or corporation that provides compressed air to be used in self-contained breathing apparatus.
