Ohio Code 4751.01 – Nursing home administrator definitions
As used in this chapter:
Terms Used In Ohio Code 4751.01
- Another: when used to designate the owner of property which is the subject of an offense, includes not only natural persons but also every other owner of property. See Ohio Code 1.02
- Nursing home: means a nursing home as defined by or under the authority of section 3721. See Ohio Code 4751.01
- Nursing home administration: means planning, organizing, directing, and managing the operation of a nursing home. See Ohio Code 4751.01
- Nursing home administrator: means any individual who engages in the practice of nursing home administration, whether or not the individual shares the functions and duties of nursing home administration with one or more other individuals. See Ohio Code 4751.01
- state: means the state of Ohio. See Ohio Code 1.59
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
- Valid health services executive license: means a health services executive license to which all of the following apply:
(1) It was issued by the board of executives of long-term services and supports under section 4751. See Ohio Code 4751.01
(A) “Health-care licensing agency” means any department, division, board, section of a board, or other government unit that is authorized by a statute of this or another state to issue a license, certificate, permit, card, or other authority to do either of the following in the context of health care:
(1) Engage in a specific profession, occupation, or occupational activity;
(2) Have charge of and operate certain specified equipment, machinery, or premises.
(B) “Licensed health services executive” means an individual who holds a valid health services executive license.
(C) “Licensed nursing home administrator” means an individual who holds a valid nursing home administrator license.
(D) “Long-term services and supports setting” means any institutional or community-based setting in which medical, health, psychosocial, habilitative, rehabilitative, or personal care services are provided to individuals on a post-acute care basis.
(E) “Nursing home” means a nursing home as defined by or under the authority of section 3721.01 of the Revised Code, or a nursing home operated by a governmental agency.
(F) “Nursing home administration” means planning, organizing, directing, and managing the operation of a nursing home.
(G) “Nursing home administrator” means any individual who engages in the practice of nursing home administration, whether or not the individual shares the functions and duties of nursing home administration with one or more other individuals.
(H) “Valid health services executive license” means a health services executive license to which all of the following apply:
(1) It was issued by the board of executives of long-term services and supports under section 4751.201, 4751.21, 4751.23, 4751.25, or 4751.33 of the Revised Code;
(2) It was not sold, fraudulently furnished, or fraudulently obtained in violation of division (E) of section 4751.10 of the Revised Code;
(3) It is current and in good standing.
(I) “Valid nursing home administrator license” means a nursing home administrator license to which all of the following apply:
(1) It was issued by the board under section 4751.20, 4751.201, 4751.23, 4751.24, or 4751.33 of the Revised Code;
(2) It was not sold, fraudulently furnished, or fraudulently obtained in violation of division (F) of section 4751.10 of the Revised Code;
(3) It is current and in good standing.

This presentation recognizes the principle stated in R.C. 1.52(B) that amendments are to be harmonized if reasonably capable of simultaneous operation.
