Rhode Island General Laws 5-6-21. Certificates expiring while licensee is in federal service
(a) Any certificate expiring while the holder of the certificate is in the military, naval, or air service of the United States shall be renewed without further examination, upon payment of the prescribed fee, at any time within four (4) months after that person‘s discharge from the service.

(b) Any certificate expiring while the holder of the certificate is outside the continental limits of the United States in connection with any project undertaken by the government of the United States shall be renewed without further examination, upon payment of the prescribed fee, at any time within four (4) months after that person’s return to the United States.
