- Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
- Blended learning: means a formal education program in which a student learns:(1)(a) at least in part, through online learning with some element of student control over time, place, path, and pace;(1)(b) at least in part, in a supervised brick-and-mortar location away from home; and(1)(c) in a program in which the modalities along each student's learning path within a course or subject are connected to provide an integrated learning experience. See Utah Code 53F-5-501
- Equal: means , with respect to biological sex, of the same value. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Extended learning: means learning opportunities outside of a traditional school structure, including:
(2)(a) online learning available anywhere, anytime;(2)(b) career-based experiences, including internships and job shadowing;(2)(c) community-based projects; and(2)(d) off-site postsecondary learning. - Institution of higher education: means an institution listed in Section 53B-1-102. See Utah Code 53F-5-501
- Person: means :
(24)(a) an individual;(24)(b) an association;(24)(c) an institution;(24)(d) a corporation;(24)(e) a company;(24)(f) a trust;(24)(g) a limited liability company;(24)(h) a partnership;(24)(i) a political subdivision;(24)(j) a government office, department, division, bureau, or other body of government; and(24)(k) any other organization or entity. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5- Process: means a writ or summons issued in the course of a judicial proceeding. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Review committee: means the committee established under Section 53F-5-502. See Utah Code 53F-5-501
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
- STEM: means science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. See Utah Code 53F-5-501
- Writing: includes :
(48)(a) printing;(48)(b) handwriting; and(48)(c) information stored in an electronic or other medium if the information is retrievable in a perceivable format. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
