The owner of a kit vehicle may apply for a certificate of title by presenting a manufacturer’s statement of origin for the kit, a notarized bill of sale for all major component parts not in the kit, a statement that an inspection has been conducted on the vehicle, and a vehicle identification number as described in section 60-148. The certificate of title shall indicate the year the vehicle resembles, the make the vehicle resembles, and the model the vehicle resembles and shall be branded as replica.

Terms Used In Nebraska Statutes 60-142.05

  • Inspection: means an identification inspection conducted pursuant to section Nebraska Statutes 60-118
  • Kit vehicle: means a vehicle which was assembled by a person other than a generally recognized manufacturer of vehicles by the use of a reproduction resembling a specific manufacturer's make and model that is at least thirty years old purchased from an authorized manufacturer and accompanied by a manufacturer's statement of origin. See Nebraska Statutes 60-119
  • Replica: means the designation of a vehicle which resembles a specific manufacturer's make and model that is at least thirty years old and which has been assembled as a kit vehicle. See Nebraska Statutes 60-128.02
  • Vehicle: means a motor vehicle, all-terrain vehicle, utility-type vehicle, minibike, trailer, or semitrailer. See Nebraska Statutes 60-136
  • Vehicle identification number: means a series of English letters or Arabic or Roman numerals assigned to a vehicle for identification purposes. See Nebraska Statutes 60-136.01
  • Year: shall mean calendar year. See Nebraska Statutes 49-801
