- Child: means , except as provided in Section
80-2-905 , an individual who is under 18 years old. See Utah Code 80-1-102 - Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- State: means :(1)(a) a state of the United States;(1)(b) the District of Columbia;(1)(c) the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico;(1)(d) the Virgin Islands;(1)(e) Guam;(1)(f) the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands; or(1)(g) a territory or possession administered by the United States. Any court having jurisdiction to place delinquent children may place such a child in an institution in another state, under Article VI of the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children, and shall retain jurisdiction as provided in Article V of the compact.
